Why Liberal Catholic?
Liberal Catholics are mystical Christians and seekers who are not under the authority of the Roman Catholic Church. They emphasise the following points and more...
Sacramental - Through the spiritual energy of the sacraments a person can grow close to the Christ both within and around us. The ritual of the Mass or Eucharist is of central importance. We celebrate the seven sacraments of Baptism, Confirmation, Eucharist, Absolution, Healing, Matrimony and Holy Orders.
Apostolic Succession - A line or current of initiatory and spiritual power passed from bishop to bishop coming down from the Twelve apostles.
Mystical - A focus on the inner aspects of teaching rather than the literal. Inner meaning is viewed as a vehicle for awakening and inner transformation.
Freedom - We are all part of the Divine Source and are here to discover it and make it a reality in our lives and to return to it. Freedom of thought and belief according to a person's understanding and experience is important
Universal - God is Love and is manifested and experienced as such. All spiritual pathways which focus on Love, Peace and Inclusiveness can lead back to the Divine.
Trinitarian - the divine manifests in three aspects or persons - many religions teach this. Humans are also seen as a trinity - body soul and spirit.
Marian - Our church fosters a strong devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary as Mother of God and World Mother.
Angels - They are not just messengers but assist in healing, ritual and all spiritual work.
